What do your UIBC levels mean?

The short answer

Uibc has never come up on any of the shows we follow. So there's no number here.

Your lab prints 120–380 µg/dL. That range exists to catch disease, not to describe your best.

What UIBC measures

The iron transport capacity still unused.

It is the other half of total capacity, and the two together show your iron status.

Common questions

What is a normal UIBC level?

Most US labs print 120–380 µg/dL. Your report grades you against that range. It exists to catch disease, not to describe your best.

What does your UIBC number mean?

Under 120 µg/dL, your report marks it low. Between 120 and 380 it prints as normal. Over 380, your report marks it high. Nobody we follow has drawn a line inside that range.

What does the UIBC test measure?

The iron transport capacity still unused. It is the other half of total capacity, and the two together show your iron status.

Why is there no target here?

Because UIBC has never come up in anything we've watched. If that changes, it will be here.
